Yesterday one of my friends told me that he wanted to uninstall Norton 360 because it has expired, and he did not want to use it any more; however Norton 360 continually pops up some annoying messages each time he opened the Internet or ran a program on his computer. It has slowed down his computer. What’s more, he could not uninstall Norton 360 from the Add or Remove Programs even though Norton 360 was listed there. So, how to completely uninstall Norton 360? Don’t worry; the following are the most effective ways to deal with it.
Method one, you can reinstall and then uninstall Norton 360 thru Add or Remove Programs on Control Panel with instruction below:
Uninstall Norton 360 Step 1 Go to the Start menu and select Control Panel
Uninstall Norton 360 Step 2 Select and click on the Add or Remove Programs
Uninstall Norton 360 Step 3 Highlight the Norton 360 and select “Remove”
Uninstall Norton 360 Step 4 Follow the onscreen steps to finish the removal.
Method two, Method one often fails to help you completely uninstall Norton 360, then after that you can try this way to find out and manually delete the five directories of Norton 360:
1.C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
2.C:\Program Files\Symantec
3.C:\Program Files\Norton
4.C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec
5.C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\NAV or C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\NIS
(Note:the Application Datas in them are hidden)
In case you couldn’t find out the above directories, make hidden files and folders shown on your computer before conduct the manual Norton 360 removal with the steps described here:
1. Open “My Computer”, click “Tools” icon on the tool bar and select “Folder Options…”
2. Click on “View button, select” Show hidden files and folders” under the folder list of “Hidden files and folders”, last, select “Apply” to make it work.
Method three, force uninstall Norton 360
In case you can’t reinstall and completely uninstall Norton 360 or you are not allowed to conduct a manual Norton 360 removal, you also can force uninstall Norton 360 automatically and easily by deleting the five directories (which I mentioned before) one by one with an amazing Norton removal tool.
All in all, the most effective way to fully and safely uninstall Norton 360 is to find a proper removal tool which can do the normal uninstall and forcible uninstall for you.
